Three Edits

Re-Edits

As you can see I cloned out the shed and parts of the tree in the background. Turning it into a black and white picture was probably in my best interest, since I forgot to adjust the lighting and color before I cloned- the cloned area looked odd. I wish this photo had better focus. It looks a little fuzzy in some spots. I left the dark spot in the corner to add interest.

I had a better version of this picture, but I sadly saved over it. For this photo, I boosted the magenta color. Before the colors were slightly washed out. I like the extreme colors- blue and purple. I also messed with the levels, made it darker and lighter. I moved the contrast up so the difference between the frost and the outside is better.

I did some minor adjusting to this picture compared to the cloned one. I cropped it so the focus is in rule of thirds. I brightened the shadows and darkened the highlights, or however that goes. I adjusted the contrast, and was about to make it into a black and white picture. But, I love the stripe of color in the background.

Winter Light

Morning Light

I can't figure out how to get this paragraph below the photo- I think did something weird...
This is my favorite morning picture. I didn't like it at first, it was very dull and the colors were washed out, but then I darkened it with levels. I love it. I like the colors and the repeated twigs with different shades of brown. It fallows rules of thirds and repeated stuff.

Mid Day Light

I love this picture. It fallows rule of thirds and I like the colors. The red repeats. I like how there are ice droplets on the end of the branch. I really like the flakes of ice/snow that are on the end also. I like how the brightest part of the photo is on the main subject, so it brings your eye there. This was taken on an overcast day, so I was worried about the blue, but it never showed up.

Night Light
So, this was one of my better night (late day) photos. I took them at about six o'clock, which I thought was going to be early enough. Nope, since it was an overcast everything turned this dark blue color. All of my pictures turned out horrendously. This one got choppy and gross looking when I made it brighter. So, in the end, it turned out to be  a low key photo.

Professional Photography

Wes C. Skiles

Wes C. Skiles was an amazing underwater photographer who had many advances in underwater photography. He was born in 1958 and past away in 2010. He lived in High Springs, Florida. He used his skills to go on many scientific underwater explorations. He was a cinematographer as well, and was used in National Geographic films like National Geographic Antarctica. While shooting he became the first human to step foot on Iceberg B-15. He was recognized as "Diver of the Year" and awarded an Emmy for his work with PBS "Water Series." His photography is very science based, which I love. I like that he can put his skills to use to make something better known. I think that's something that makes you a good journalistic type of photographer- when you can go to another country like, Erika Larson or Wes C. Skiles, and make their way of life known. In this case, it's the fishes life.

Carsten Peter is a national geographic photographer. His photography is nature based but to the extreme. Many of his photographs consist of underwater life, tornadoes and even volcanoes. His photography intrigues me, because it's the kind of photography that really
shocks people. He tries to use new techniques to get the most stunning and breathtaking images. He has repelled down
ice caverns just to get the perfect photograph. He has also won an Emmy Award for his videography.

Winter Texture

This is my favorite picture from the shoot. I love the deep colors. The yucky drops of frozen water don't add very much, but the frost does. I like how there are things in the background so that the picture isn't very boring. But, above all I like the colors.

This photo isn't exactly winter texture, but I like it. However, I do hate the house in the background. I wish it showed more of the sunrise, then the house. The repeated pink is my favorite thing in the photograph. I tried this picture from a different angle and it turned out horribly- this one is the best.

I like the colors in this picture. I like all the shades of blue, and then the contrasting yellow. I also like how the outside is smooth while the frost is choppy and ridged.
The thing that bothers me about this picture is the patch of frost in the lower right corner. When I tried to crop it out, the picture looked funny- so I just left it.

Textures in Photography

My definition of texture isn't a pattern, but a surface of 3 dimensional shapes, so everything isn't just flat. I think that all of these pictures have that.

Composition in Photography

This is an example of horizontal lines photography.
This is a sort of example of rule of thirds. When captured the picture, I accidently left some of the top off.

These are both examples of curved lines.

This is an example of vertical lines.

This photo is for leading lines.

This photo is for zig-zag lines
